关键在于the number of 后面什么时候再加一个 the 而什么时候不加~
在网上看到的句子:①The number of candles is the person's age.
②The number of the students in our class is 50.
上面两个句子中①是 the number of ...②是 the number of the.
两者有什么区别吗?

其实这就是the的用法问题.
当有the时,表示特指,即②句中the students特指我们班上的学生,要用the特指.
不加the就是不表特指.
例：the number of ants is huge. 蚂蚁的数量很多.
the number of ants in China is huge. 中国的蚂蚁的数量很多.
