Mind the music and the step and with the girls be handy.I always wonder why there is so many people often sitting in front of the TV ,maybe sometimes eating some cookies meanwhile,to kill time.It seems that they never think that is a kind of wasting time.It was a dark and stormy night.I was about to go to bed when I heard a tapping sound on my window.
"Who's there?" I shouted.Suddenly there was a flash of lightning; I saw a face at the window.It looked like an alien ...an alien that I had seen on the television show,"the X files."I felt very scared.I ran to my bed and pulled my blanket over my head.I started to shout for my parents but there was no reply.Then I remembered that they were at a fancy dress party.
I peeped out of my blanket but it was too dark to see anything.Then I heard footsteps.They were getting louder and louder.It was dark but I knew the way to my drawer where I kept my camera.I ran there and took out my camera and started to take pictures in the direction of the window.Soon the footsteps died off.
The grandfather clock struck ......It was 12 midnight.I went back to my bed and tried to sleep.But I could not sleep.I felt too frightened.I sat up,my mind was full of thoughts.Time passed ...one o'clock,two o'clock,three o'clock,four o'clock.Finally,I fell asleep.I woke up only after eight and decided to investigate.I found some footprints outside my bedroom window.I measured them with a tape and found them to be exactly the same size as my father's shoes.The footprints ended at the door of my house.I then went to town to get the film developed.But when I saw the photos I was shocked.They were black and I could hardly see anything.Then I remembered that I did not use the flash.
When I reached home I told my father the whole incident and he started to laugh.I started laughing too when he told me that he had dressed up as an alien for the party.Today,I am still amused to think I was so afraid of my own father.The story goes that some time ago,a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper.Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.Nevertheless,the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said,"This is for you,Daddy."
The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction,but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty.He yelled at her,stating,"Don't you know,when you give someone a present,there is supposed to be something inside?The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried,"Oh,Daddy,it's not empty at all.I blew kisses into the box.They're all for you,Daddy."
The father was crushed.He put his arms around his little girl,and he begged for her forgiveness.
Only a short time later,an accident took the life of the child.It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and,whenever he was discouraged,he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
一般现在时的用法
1) 经常性或习惯性的动作,常与表示频腮度的时间状语连用.
时间状语：every…,sometimes,at…,on Sunday

2) 客观真理,客观存在,科学事实.
The earth moves around the sun.

3) 表示格言或警句中.
Pride goes before a fall.骄者必败.
注意：此用法如果出现在宾语从句中,即使主句是过去时,从句谓语也要用一般现在时.
例：Columbus proved that the earth is round..
4) 现在时刻的状态、能力、性格、个性.
I don't want so much.

比较：Now I put the sugar in the cup.
I am doing my homework now.
