本来你理解的方向是没错的.我想说的有几点：
第一,there be sth or sb doing sth 是一个固定搭配.表示有某物或者某人正在做某事.
当然there are two pages which are missing in the new dicitonary.这个解释貌似有点对,跟我上面说的那个固定搭配很像,因为there be sth or sb doing sth 本来就等于there be sth or sb which or who be doing sth（但这不是这道题目的最终解释哦,继续看下去）
第二：这里的missing不是一个现在分词的意义,是现在分词形式的形容词.是一个形容词哦,在原句中做后置定语.的确是相当于missing前面省略了which are,但不是像我上面说的there be sth or sb doing sth .因此从missed与missing之间我们肯定选择missing了.因为missed没有missing这个形容词的缺失的-----这层意思.
