分析下这句话的结构和里面coded的用法
说蛾子的一句话：
The dust-like scales covering its wings are color coded to indicate the kinds of poison it has.
大意可能是：覆盖在翅膀上粉尘一样的鳞片是由颜色(块)排列的,这些颜色的排列指示了蛾子含有毒素的种类.
里面的“coded”有点难以理解,形容词?被动式?我只能肯定不是过去式...
我粗略把它引申成色块的排列,跟花蝴蝶翅膀上的花纹那样...
coded后面还跟了to...不知道能否判断coded是动词?

如果是被动式的话，be动词就是are了，color夹在它俩中间作coded的状语?
are color coded是否也就等同于are coded by color?
