ZHAO Chunyang and Guo Saixi have become stars of Zhengzhou No 18 High School.The two have been chosen as the school’s “macho boy” and “cute and clever girl” .
Nowadays,more boys are shy and timid ,while girls have become tough and bold .This has worried many adults,especially parents.The Zhengzhou school says this is because they don’t have gender education at school.So they began selecting gender role models among the students,called “macho boys” and “cute and clever girls”.
Wang Bingkun,a teacher at the school,told Teens,“We hope it will help students know their genders better.”
According to the school,a “macho boy” must be brave,modest and tolerant ,while “cute and clever girls” should be quiet,tender and well-mannered.This event was started last semester and the results came out just last month.
Zhao and Guo are happy to get their titles.“I’ll take the honor as a drive to become a better person in the future,” Zhao said.
But some of Zhao’s peers worry the selection will harm individuality.
Guo Rongxin is an eighth grader in Shijiazhuang Tongwen Middle School in Hebei.He said the selection “shocked” him.
“People shouldn’t make a fuss of the high number of shy boys and tomboy girls,which is normal during puberty ,” he says.“Boys and girls will grow up into what they are very soon.To put a rigid set of criteria on everyone is to kill variety.”
