2 Theoretical Analysis
Based on the research outcome of fl ow induced vibration,
the vibration of packing that is induced by the fl ow fi eld
in the vacuum distillation tower is mainly created by the
fi rst harmonic resonance (or resonance for short).When
the resonance appears on the packing,there would be a
circulative fatigue stress on its surface.And the corrosion
environment would accelerate the failure of packing.
During the research on the fl ow induced vibration and stability
of elements in stacked plate type reactor container,
based on the method involving both of theoretical calculations
and experimental measurements,Guo Changqing
found out that the vibration behavior of the thin stacked
structure can use a beam model to deal with[5].Based on
this conclusion and the character of the loads on the packing,
we can simplify the packing into a thin wall pipe
(or pipe for short),which is fixed on its two ends with
its length (L) equating to the packing.In the process of
simplifying the packing,we need keep the pipe to have a
same bending modulus[6] and a same hydraulic diameter
as the packing.Then we obtain the inner diameter and
outer diameter of the pipe which is equivalent to Di=17.65
mm and Do=20.23 mm,respectively,according to theoretical
calculations
