The television is of great significance in most American homes.For generations,families have sat around a TV and enjoyed their favorite TV shows together.Today,there are so many TV shows to watch that people spend a great deal of their time watching TV alone.Most Americans are happy to be able to watch exactly what they want and when they want to.NBC（National Broadcasting Company）,CBS（Columbia Boardcasting System）,and ABC（American Boardcasting Company）are three majoy television networks in the USA.They have introduced many dramas,soap operas,talk shows,news shows,and sports shows that are relayed throughout America and are often sold abroad.
There are two main types of American radio:talk radio and music stations.On a talk radio station,a host leads interviews and discussions with a guest speaker or a member of the public who has been called in.Naturally,music stations play music that is usually of one particular type such as calssical music,pop,or hop-hop.These stations broadcast for free and are available to anyone who wants to listen.NPR（National Public Radio）has the largest audience all over the USA,while people from around the world can hear a wide range of programs through VOA（Voice of America）in 44 languages.
