I walked to a village.I was very hungry.I had no money to buy bread.I was too afraid to beg.
I went on.I saw a church.I thought the clergyman would know if anyone could give me work.But the clergyman was not there.His servant said he had gone away because his father had been dead.
I didn't know what to do.I had no money.No one would give me work.
Near morning time,it began to rain.I began to look for somewhere to shelter,but the land was flat and empty.There was no tree where I could sit out of the rain.Then in the distance,I saw a light.I walked slowly towards it,and came to a house.I looked through the window.I saw a kitchen-clean,bright and warm.
I knocked at the door.Hannah opened it.
